The Conference of Baptist Ministers in Massachusetts (CBMM) is seeking someone to become our Intentional Interim Executive Director for the next year.
Like all interim positions, it will be one where duties may change as the Interim works with the Board and with American Baptist pastors in Massachusetts to determine what our needs are in days to come.
Our initial summary of the position is that the Intentional Interim Executive Director will:
1. Be in conversation with American Baptist pastors, chaplains, and CBMM members throughout Massachusetts. To be a pastor to the pastors.
2. Complete basic administrative responsibilities: pay the bills, keep things running, identify systems, issues or projects that need attention, continue communications, work with our contracted part-time admin person on the website and email communications.
3. Provide regular written reports on the needs of clergy in MA with a final recommendation to the board on how CBMM can live out our mission (promoting the union and usefulness of clergy since 1829) in the days going forward.
We are anticipating this will be a flexible, part-time position, with an expected 60 hours per month. We would start with a one year duration, with an annual salary range of $35,000-$40,000.
The candidate must be ordained clergy with familiarity with ABC-USA, have basic administrative and computer communication skills, and reside in or near MA. Please email Rev. Jana Yeaton, board president at president@conferenceofbaptistministers.com with a resume and cover letter describing your experience and ability to meet the job components identified above.
Oasis of Faith Campus Ministries at UMass Boston continues to serve the community. It began in 1974 with the skills of Sister Sarah Small, formerly of Twelfth Baptist Church and the Rev. Jack Hornfeldt. The ministry became a separate mission unit as Oasis of Faith Campus Ministries in 2013. It is a nonprofit 501c3.
The Chaplain works as a messenger of the Good News, to give pastoral care, to encourage the use of students’ gifts and skills to create a more just society towards The Beloved Community, to provide the agape’ of Jesus and to be an ambassador of faith. While we primarily serve students, we also care for the whole community as able, and serve staff and faculty as well.
It continues as a grant and donation funded ministry. The university offers the in-kind gift of an office, internet service, and a welcome at the leadership table.
Job Description: Chaplain
The hired paid volunteer will receive a salary/stipend with the possibility of Clergy Housing and Tax offset.
The hired paid volunteer will report each month with a written report to the board on activities and data of encounters.

The ideal candidate will be fully ordained or in the ordination track, nearing completion.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable to a very diverse community.
